ECP / Policy & Training skill (exchek-ecp)

The ExChek ECP skill generates tailored Export Compliance Program (ECP) documents, SOPs, and training outlines from your company's footprint, product mix, and risk profile. It aligns with BIS nine ECP elements and DDTC expectations (where ITAR applies) and maps screening, classification, and licensing into CRM/ERP/agents. The skill does not perform classification, screening, or license determination—it produces program-level and training content only. No API key required. Free; optional donation.

What you need

  • Skill installed — Copy the exchek-ecp folder from the exchekskills repo into your agent's skills directory. See Install the ExChek skills.
  • No API key — The skill uses references (ECP best practices, SOP and training guidance); no external API calls.
  • Inputs — Company footprint (geography, subsidiaries), product mix (EAR/ITAR, ECCN bands), risk profile; optional existing controls and systems (CRM, ERP, agents). For training: roles (sales, shipping, compliance) and depth.

How to use

  1. Install the skill — From the exchekskills repo, copy exchek-ecp into ~/.claude/skills/exchek-ecp (or your agent's skills path):

  2. Ask for ECP, SOPs, or training — Say things like:
    • "Generate an ECP for our company"
    • "Draft SOPs for our export compliance process"
    • "Create a training outline for sales on red flags"
    • "ECP and training outline based on our product mix and risk profile"
    • "How should screening and classification fit in our CRM?"
  3. Choose output — The agent will ask what to generate: ECP only, SOPs only, training outline only, or a combination. Provide company footprint, product mix, and risk profile (e.g. "small SaaS with EAR99 and some 5A992").
  4. Review the output — The agent fills the ECP Document Template, SOP Export Compliance, and/or Training Outline Template from your inputs. You can save as Markdown and optionally as Word (.docx) or Apple Pages.

What the skill does not do

The skill does not perform classification, screening, or license determination. It generates assistive ECP, SOP, and training content. Adoption and legal sufficiency of program documentation are your responsibility; legal/compliance review is recommended before formal adoption.

CUI and classified information

If the item or any information involves Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or classified information, do not use cloud APIs or LLMs. Run the skill on-premises with a local LLM. See CUI / Classified Information.
